Small DIY Sounds
Posted by admin in Art & Design, Har Har, Pop Cult-ure, Shopping, musick on October 20th, 2009
Everyone knows how fond ADD is of Urban Outfitter’s music gadgets, and this mini boombox is no exception to our adoration. This old school mp3 dock has two speakers that boast clear sound, 8 ohms, 88 db sensitivity and a healthy dose of nostalgia. It’s also a bit DIY, so its $16 price tag makes it like the IKEA of audio products. Check it out here.

Studdy Buddy

If you’re a fan of nostalgia and irony, then this bag may be worth keeping in your locker. Before laptops we had black and white composition notebooks, where we had to actually write with our fingers and a pen. Even if you may not remember how to write in cursive, you’ll remember this pattern. Available at Fred Flare for a student-friendly $24.
Retro-to-Go

How can you not be charmed by this funny little thing? If Saved By The Bell had been shot a decade earlier, maybe Zach Morris would’ve been carrying around one of these gadgets instead of a Sony Walkman. The Audio Technica AT-727 “Sound Burger” is a teeny tiny little battery-powered portable audio device. It was actually created in response to the Walkman, but obviously didn’t catch on quite as well… It plays 45 and 33 1/3 RPM records. Though it’s considered portable, it shouldn’t really be carried around. The player is belt driven, and replacement belts and stylus cartridges can still be bought.
Have fun Ebay hunting for one of these bite-sized burgers!

Tied Up On Time

Another retro geek inspiration, courtesy of GeekSugar. Somewhere in my subconscious, I remember getting tangled up every once in a while in a telephone cord while spending hours on the phone. And now I can chat on my wireless while checking out the time on my wire. At $65, you should probably have some nostalgia for the phones of yesteryear. Attached to every timepiece is a legit phone key, to really drive the point home.

Analog Walls

On a bit of a wall kick, I figured this post would be of interest to ADD’s vinyl fans. It may not smell when you scratch it, but you can certainly sit around and think about scratching. Check out Analog Nights, a retro wallpaper from Aimee Wilder. Many other sweet (non-smelly) prints to boot!
