Dancing Dock

Definitely the darndest iPod dock/coffee table/personal disco I’ve ever seen. Designer Moritz Waldemeyer works with LEDs and lasers to make this digital masterpiece, which accommodates speakers, an iPod dock and a laser machine. Perfect for when you want your own personal dance party.

Small DIY Sounds

Everyone knows how fond ADD is of Urban Outfitter’s music gadgets, and this mini boombox is no exception to our adoration. This old school mp3 dock has two speakers that boast clear sound, 8 ohms, 88 db sensitivity and a healthy dose of nostalgia. It’s also a bit DIY, so its $16 price tag makes it like the IKEA of audio products. Check it out here.

I Wood if I Could

The Vers 2X is simplicity at its best – compact and sleek with a hand-crafted wood body and no junk in the trunk (check out its bare bones back). This iPod dock is designed to fit in a small space, while making enough sound to fill up a big room. Its busy remote control lets you manipulate the heck out of your music without moving an inch. For wood connoiseurs, it comes in Cherry, Natural Walnut, Dark Walnut and Bamboo. The Natural Walnut has a beautiful retro feel to it.
I was surprised to find out that each speaker system is built by hand over the course of a week, ensuring that every model is unique. In a world where iPod docks are built in the same way IKEA furniture is, a one-of-a-kind speaker at less than $200 (with a dollar going to planting a new tree) is made to last.

Shopping Bopping

In this recession, doesn’t it make sense for your everyday home products to glorify shopping? The makers of this iPod dock think so… These wood-encased speakers make me want to blow some cash, or at least blast some beats. You plug your mp3 player into the top and turn up the volume. Made in Japan, these non-portable (yet imitation-portable) speakers go for about $350.
