Rex Likes Music

This animation makes me want to start cutting, drawing, gluing and taping. Rex The Dog is a damn good DIY stop-motion video.

Change The Tape

Even though the sight of cassette tape brings back awful flashbacks of yards of plastic tape and thumbs that were too big, I have to admit that these examples of “Tapeography” are pretty amazing. Artist and designer Ersinhan Ersin painstakingly drew out images using cassette tape after experimenting with it in font making.

If you’ve got patience and some old cassettes laying around, it probably makes for a straightforward DIY project. You could mount your design with pins and glue on board or canvas. Happy taping!

Paper Planes (and Model Speakers)

“I fly like paper, get high like planes” and when you plug me in your puter, my music entertains… While I may not rhyme, I do appreciate cute and conversation-sparking designs. If you’re good with your hands (and not so good with tools) then this is the ultimate music-playing tool for you. The Princeton PSP-NXT retro stereo system paper model hooks up to your computer and uses 1 watt USB speakers to pump some semi-serious sound. You buy the paper model and the stereo separately and then use your crafty skills to make this nifty miniature.
