There was a point in music history when records were sold in brown paper bags, and there wasn’t any artwork to feast your eyes on. Things have obviously changed, in part thanks to an ultra-creative Columbia Records art director. Alex Steinweiss added some major pizazz to jazz, classical and pop records with his bold graphic style. Taschen is paying homage to this man with a vision in “Alex Steinweiss, The Inventor of the Modern Album Cover” (check it out here.) We have a lot to thank him for!
